Italian Brainrot
Trallallero Trallallà and the AI world-building universe.
2025
In early March I entered the Italian Brainrot meme. It was the perfect mix of character design, AI slop and world-building memes that I love. Little did I know that this meme would make me several times viral and I’d become a prominent figure in the space. Since then, I brought Italian Brainrot on South Park, as a kid’s cartoon, as toys, as a musical, as restaurant food, a 90’s TV show, as the pope and even a cinematic series.
On Medium you can find two articles of mine, where I explore internet folklore, participatory world-building, AI memes and more about in relation to Italian Brainrot. A punk and rebellious trend that rejects big studio IPs in favor of absurdist jokes with silly characters.
My most viral video features generated toys of Italian Brainrot, garnering more than 70 million views on Instagram. Many believe that one can buy Italian Brainrot Toys in my store, which highlights how easy it is to scam in the era of generative media. This video kick-started a wave of people actually producing real toys of this meme. Mostly 3D printed Ballerina Cappuccina or manually sew Tung Tung Tung Sahur, but also a big sea of scams appeared. This peaked with Walmart pretending to sell such toys. I know Walmart is scamming people because almost all of their products are literal cut-outs from my videos.
Now, after some time, real toys have been created and spread around the globe. Any local market that sells plushies might have your favorite Tung Tung Sahur plushie or plastic toy.
Another crazy phenomena is when I created a fake AI generated theatre musical of Italian Brainrot. That also became reality with many iterations around the world, with real costume actors re-enacting the scenes from my videos. The most famous is a Perù-based musical that is doing a world tour, most famously for appearing on Broadway.
My research and videos have been mentioned by Italian News website Il Post , ABC News’ Good Morning America, La Repubblica, and AP News (mulitplied through it syndication).
What’s next?
I previously directed animated films about memes, such as the one based on the blog post “I, We, Waluigi: a post-modern analysis of Waluigi” and my latest film featuring the AI Shoggoth meme. I would love to bring these characters to life with proper 2D or 3D animation. I’m currently searching ways to make this reality. Any help, collaboration or suggestion is welcome!
