Problematics Collages collection #1
Collages about various problematics, created during the Warm-Up Semester at the Free University of Bozen
I VALORI RESTANO I PIU' GRANDI IDEALI DELL'UOMO.
Recreating the controversy of abortion, showing the absurdity of pro-lifers with chaotic images and non-sensical arguments.
UN NUOVO TRATTAMENTO PER LA PELLE MISTA
Racism is being strengthened by white nationalism, and the collage represents what they feel about a "pure race". Referencing Hitler's book, the collage preaches racism in a more laughable and commercial way
Was thAT A BOMb
After hearing a loud noise in the city, Fabian was a bit scared it could have been a terror attack. Luckily it wasn't, but it showed him how we are living in a period of fear, where we always have some anxiety going through the city, thinking it could always happen anywhere there is a mass of people. It takes the topic to a more ad-like format, re-enforcing stereotypes and adding humor to it.
Mickey Mouse is always ready to share a smile and a sweet moment of illusion
Disney mastered to control children for decades. It is the peak of consumerism for children. The collage shows how all this is seemingly friendly but in reality terrifying and chaotic. The text tell how Disney gives this experience, that is just an early step towards "buying equals to happiness", and to let people grow with a consumerist mind.
cuz everybody else does it
A collage preaching to be yourself. Society has always been controlling you, from the biggest decision on how will your life be, on other minor like how you dress. The text that can be hardly read (because it is almost invisible to humans) asks question on why we keep on living on a pre-existing rail. Even if society forces you to do certain things, there are other aspects we can easily escape, but we won't take the chance because "nobody else does it". This topic has been important for Fabian during his UNI life because he kept on dressing and appearing different than others, with colorful and distinct looks.
METRO IS NOT METROPOLITAN
A piece of nihilist collage, where it deconstructs languages and exposes its pure nature. This happened when the word METRO referenced a company building called like that, and not the actual metropolitan. We see that words are just sounds we use to associate meanings to, and we get confused when we give more than one meaning to a combination of words. In the background there is a normal mountain, and a mirrored version of it with clouds. It symbolizes this two world we live in: the real tangible one, and the other metaphysical one, which we give the same amount of importance.
